Currently the Year Two teacher in a two-form entry school, Lucy takes a lead role in Key Stage One; other members of staff regularly seek out her support and advice with planning, teaching and assessment. Lucy has developed leadership skills by sharing expertise and knowledge with colleagues that have joined the team. Last year, she supported a NQT in Year One and a colleague that moved from Year Six to Year Two. At the beginning of this academic year, a colleague moved from a long career in early years to work alongside Lucy in Year Two and she has built on the skills acquired the previous year to support this teacher with the transition, mentoring the colleague throughout the year including assisting with planning, the curriculum and preparation for the Year Two SATS.
As the ITT leader, Lucy is very committed to supporting trainees. Through coaching, she has been able to guide several trainees along their successful journey to achieving Qualified Teacher Status.
Lucy is currently taking a lead on closing the gap in reading for the whole school as part of the NPQSL, after successfully closing the gap in phonics on the Year 1 screening test.
