Head of Science Outwood Academy Acklam, Middlesbrough, North East - Vacancy

We are excited to be looking for a dynamic, forward thinking Head of Department to take our Science department to the next level. We are looking for an inspiring and energetic leader with a real passion for Science. You will be a motivated, enthusiastic and driven individual who has the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘Students First’.

Outwood Academy Acklam joined the Outwood Grange Academies Trust in September 2013. Outwood Grange Academies Trust is nationally recognised as one of the highest preforming academy trusts in the country.

In 2016 the GCSE results at Outwood Academy Acklam were the best ever with 64.3% of our students achieving the gold standard of A*-C in English and Mathematics. This was alongside a Progress 8 score of +0.63. The Science department has also undergone rapid improvements with 53% of the entire cohort achieving EBacc Science (2+A*-C), this was alongside the 100% A*-C results for triple science and a significantly positive progress score.

The role of Head of Science at Outwood Academy Acklam would be ideal for either an experienced Head of Department or someone looking to make that next step. You will be supported extensively by a team of Science Directors allowing you to strategically lead the department, whilst having the support and advice from the director team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to lead a dynamic department and be pivotal in shaping the department on its journey to outstanding.

Through our partnership with the Outwood Institute of Education, we can offer high quality support and programs of professional development. Being part of the wider Trust, which has a number of academies, also provides a significant amount of career progression.
