Teacher Subject Specialism Training Project 2018 -19 - Maths

The Outwood Institute of Education is delighted to have secured funding to deliver Maths subject knowledge training for non-specialist secondary teachers of maths Participants can access a funded year-long programme – the only cost to your school is any cover / travel costs incurred when attending sessions.

The programme is designed to provide non-specialist and returner teachers with the subject knowledge needed to deliver good and outstanding Maths lessons and be able to address student misconceptions in the classroom. We have two cohorts running in the academic year 2018-19 – one in Middlesbrough and one in Doncaster.

The programme will start in October 2018. To register your interest, please use the relevant You do not have to currently be teaching Maths to be applicable although all participants must either have QTS, be employed as an unqualified teacher or have QTLS.

All sessions are delivered by Specialist Leaders of Education from the Outwood Institute of Education. Programmes are held at either the Outwood Conference Centre, Outwood Academy Adwick, Doncaster or at Outwood Academy Acklam, Middlesbrough. The programmes are identical and participants should select the programme delivered closest to them.
To ensure minimum impact on schools, sessions are a mixture of full days, twilights and weekend sessions; attendance to the first session is mandatory and further session will be decided once delegates’ needs have been identified.

The programme is certificated by the Yorkshire and Humber Maths Hub who will also provide participants mentoring support throughout the programme.
