MFL Matters - North

This programme is designed and delivered by outstanding MFL practitioners and leaders who consistently obtain outstanding results for students across all the academies they teach in. Participants on the programme will gain confidence and skills in ensuring their students have a great lesson, every lesson.

The programme is appropriate for secondary NQTs, experienced teachers and non-specialists who wish to deliver MFL lessons to a high standard and enable progress for all in their classroom.

Delivered over 6 face to face modules, the programme will explore:

  • Planning: The importance of the journey and the ingredients of successful short, medium and long term planning.

  • Assessment: How to provide meaningful marking and feedback.

  • Curriculum: How to ensure success for all year groups from Y7 – Y11. Includes the embedding of the OGAT MFL WHY & OGAT CURRICULUM into lessons.

  • Differentiation: Exploring practical strategies that work in MFL.

  • Skills vs Knowledge: How to develop skills and knowledge in equal measure.

Sessions will take place at the Outwood Institute of Education, Outwood Academy Acklam, 68 Hall Drive, Middlesbrough, TS5 7JY.

  • Module 1 & Module 2: Friday 21 June, 9:00am – 4:30pm

  • Module 3: Monday 24 June, 9:00am – 3:00pm

  • Module 4: Thursday 27 June, 9:00am – 12:00pm

  • Module 5: Monday 1 July, 9:00am – 12:00pm

  • Module 6: Wednesday 10 July, 9:00am – 3:00pm
