This programme will run alongside a self evaluation against the Higher Level Teaching Assistant National Standards. The three sessions are designed to equip teaching assistants with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to carry out the role of HLTA. Each session will be followed by an in-school task. Completion of these task, along with observation in the school setting will lead to trust-wide recognition that the candidate meets HLTA standards.
The aim of the programme is to ensure teachers have the knowledge and skills to:
Equip teaching assistants with the skills, knowledge and understanding required of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant;
To support aspiring HLTAs in gaining evidence towards their assessment against the HLTA standards.
Pease note that the completion of the award is able to be used within the Trust as evidence of meeting HLTA standards. It does not lead to a new role for the teaching assistant but provides them with the ability to apply for future HLTA (qualified) roles as these become available.
This is an internal programme and whilst the qualification is recognised within in trust, it is a nationally recognised programme or qualification.
