First Aid at Work Level 3 (FAW) – Three Day Training

This course is regulated, and a certificate is issued with a 3-year expiry date. It fully meets HSE guidelines, and is issued by an Ofqual recognised awarding body. This is a 3-day course, lasting 18 hours plus breaks.

In addition to the content from the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Level 3, this course takes a more in depth approach, giving staff a greater understanding and insight into many medical conditions.

The course will run twice this academic year. All session will take place at OIE, Outwood Academy Acklam, 9:00am – 4:00pm.

January – March

  • Day one: Wednesday 29th January 2020

  • Day two: Friday 28th February 2020

  • Day three: Wednesday 25th March 2020

April - June

  • Day one: Friday 24th April 2020

  • Day two: Thursday 14th May 2020

  • Day three: Thursday 18th June 2020.

Course content

  • AED placement and awareness

  • Anaphylactic shock (including EpiPen training)

  • Asthma

  • Burns and scalds

  • Chest injuries

  • Diabetes

  • Eye injuries

  • Head injuries

  • Heart attack and angina

  • Secondary survey (systematic approach to identify wounds and bleeding)

  • Fractures, sprains and strains (injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including spinal injuries)

  • Seizures

  • Sudden poisoning

  • Stroke

  • New spinal injury roll

  • Sepsis

  • Meningitis 

  • Acid Attacks
